Today's Blog:

Im going to write about a few days ago, as its worth it to write about in retrospect. Anyways, I found myself stressed out and kind of lost that week, and i needed a break. I had a time blockout, so I decided to commute to one of my favorite woods. It's an old growth forest thats just traight magical to be in, and its right on the urban outskirts. The problem is: i don't have a car here, nor do i want one. Refusing to get an uber and incentivizing a worse transit system, I took the train and rental bike there. I could take a bus from the train, but the area the train drops me off in is VERY sketch, and i didn't want to have to wait for the bus there. So, on a surprisingly weed-free lightrail trip where i got to read (inner peace), i was dropped off in the sketchy area. Immediately there was 2 groups of people having some sort of altercation, and a woman screaming all by herself. Unfortunately, expected. All i had to do was ride north on a rental ebike. Quickly, i found a discared ebike, and took off. The neighborhood i was going through was ghostly, nobody around, poorly kept houses (despite them still having mowed lawns, poor pollenators) and the sound of large dogs barking in their deep grumbly tone. So far, the ride itself was smooth, as i had a basically abandoned sidewalk to ride on, and eventually a bike lane. My luck soon ran short, and i had to weave between construction as not even a shoulder was available for miles. Once i was finally past the construction, i was on perhaps the funniest sidewalk ever. Once again not maintained, the concrete panels of the sidewalk were lifted and twisted in all sorts of crazy ways. The bike would comedically ramp off the tops of askew conrete panels, and i felt like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. This is when things took a turn for the worst. The ebike service has a boundary of where the bikes can be. I knew this, but the edge boundary was close so i planned to ditch the bike at a place i knew right at the border and walk the rest of the way. After waiting ages to cross the road, i unfotunately found out that the bike determines the other side of this busy road as its boundary, not inclusive. I had to backtrack a LOT to find an appropriate place to leave the ebike, adding to my walk. The walk was up a hill into a wealthy neighborhood, and on hot pavement. I finally made it to the woods, but i didnt want to be out past dark on the train, and dark was coming soon. i only had like 10 minutes there as i wasted so much time with the ebike. Not very relaxing! I managed to catch the bus, which was a little risky because this stop was at the crest of a hill where the driver only had a mere second to see me, and i was off. The bus driver was very nice, and had to inform me that the scanner was broken for fares. Everyone had free rides! A man later got on the bus, and asked me for directions, which is funny because I was super unfamiliar with this area and its transit, especially with the detour caused by the construction. I was able to help! I got dropped off at the station, lady still screaming, just in time to catch the train. Again, a weed-less train! Actually even better, a group behind me got a TON of takeout food, which smelled great. I made it home, spending all my time and energy just commuting. I don't know if i "healed" from this, but it made a memory in a time free of memories.

Thought of the day:

Which Texas is Tex-Mex food referring to?

Thought not of the day:

I live here. This is my home.
